A different fighting style
July 23, 2007I have become so wrapped up in my training that I started to wonder on my fighting approach. Fighting how I had was a traditional “come out swinging strong and hope your enemy falls before you” type of rogue style. But continuous attacking and being attacked had put into my mind that I could perfect my style to a more calm and precise type of fighting. I sat down on the steps of the cathedral in Stormwind pondering all my ideas and then it hit me: I needed a different type of weapon.
I went to the weapons dealer and begun holding different blades of different sorts. First a sword. I had been known to wield swords before, but never with my stabbing hand. It just made proper ’stabbing’ impossible. Putting that down I saw a mace. I had never used one before, so I picked one up and swung it a few times. I decided no, it was far too top heavy. It would throw me off balance when I was trying to be as hard to connect to as possible. Way off of my base of weapons. How does Mabon fight with these things? I think it would take all the grace out of my fighting. Slightly scowling, I set down the mace. On the far left of the counter, there was a peculiar looking handle with two long and pointy blades coming off of the top of it. I picked up two and attacked the dummy in the corner. These weapons were definitely not for stabbing, and the fighting was much more personal and in-your-face. But what drew me in was the precision of the weapons. Much easier to attack specific parts of a body and even better was the control. Fighting for a while I learned how to pull my wrists inward mid-slice, almost tearing at my assailant. Using these weapons made my hands lighter and myself quicker. I was in love…
