Alterac
July 16, 2007I have become quite adept at the battles that seem to continuously rage in the alterac valley. Stormpike asks for any and all alliance members to assist him in claiming the lands that before had been horde territory. I decided to volunteer to improve my prowess in fighting the horde, though I do feel that they are slightly in the right here. Then again, Stormpike never wished to fight. He was here for mining and archeology studies. The horde reacted rashly and that is the reason the valley is a war zone. At any rate it’s too late now.
Today I have performed my best in combat. I used to just fling myself into battle with the rest of the troops, but I have come to realize that as a rogue charging is not my forte. I hide in trees, behind stumps, and even bury myself in snow to surprise my unlucky straggler.
But back to today. Today the horde pushed us all the way to Stormpike’s bunker before the offense decided to move out. That first thirty minutes when the group split was horrible. We were hopelessly out numbered but we continued to wait for our brothers in arms to challenge the horde base. This would surprise them and force them to split they’re force as well and it was our only chance for taking the valley this day. The horde stood on one side of the bridge and us on the other. We 12 were all that kept those 30 or more horde from Stormpike. I took a quick look at my map and realized that our offense was still about two minutes away from Drek (the horde general) and in that time we would be wiped completely. Catching movement in the corner of my eye, I jumped from my tree and stabbed at the druid trying to sneak by our defenses. As soon as he fell, four undead rogues popped out of nowhere and assaulted us. Huang the hunter was by far the most expirienced of us all and he mowed down at least two horde as they charged across the bridge to assist their rogues. My brothers flew to meet the assaut and I hung back until I spotted a season 56 blood elf mage among the charge. I focused on him, closed my eyes, and felt my weight leave me and the earth disappear beneath my feet. I waited for my feet to feel solid ground again and opened my eyes. Now that I was behind the mage I ambushed him, stabbing deftly toward his back with my dagger. Connection and he hit the ground. I looked up and saw two of the Alliance fighting a pally and i sprinted toward him, lept into the air and cut him across his back, landing in front of him. Mayem all was all around me. Wizzing arrows flew in all directions, fireballs and ice spikes. I could hear Huang shouting orders, though I couldn’t see him. Smoke was everywhere. A dwarf ran towards me and fell at my feet dead. I looked up just as his attacker had just caught four of Huang’s arrows and instantly regretted his decision to chase the dwarf into range. A flash of light appeared over him and suddenly he looked refreshed. Instantly I knew it was a priest. That was bad news. The way the Tauren was revitalized meant it was a holy priest capable of some monster heals. I threw my flash powder to the ground, starting my stealth, and moved to a hill to look for the priest. I saw him. Huang had attacked the bastard and was being killed. The priest was half dead and Huang was working on dying as well, so I ran suicidally towards the priest. Area spells we going off everywhere and I was clipped by one. It didn’t hurt bad, but it broke my stealth and I happened to be right in the middle of the horde army. I shrugged off the 2 arrows that found my shoulder as soon as I was visible and pushed by a shaman. Something hit me in the back and I hit the ground hard, but stumbled up and kept running. A warrior stepped between me and the priest so I threw some powder in his eyes and ran up his hammer and jumped off his back in one move. I came crashing down on the priest and delivered the final blow to his fragile body. Despite the incredible pain I was in I smiled. Looking up at Huang, I was finished off by a warlocks curse. Lying there I heard a horn sound. Someone had summoned the Ram Riders to battle, effectively pushing the horde back over the bridge and down the main road. Ressel revived me and we looked out at the horde turning tail. That was good, but even better was the fact that Aegwyn had attacked Drek, effectively taking the pressure off of the defense. We all sighed in relief and bandaged up, waiting for the next push.
Damn we were good today.
